Another owner of an automatic Mini like mine had said that using the FTC pellets had completely transformed the performance of her car. I was intrigued and so I decided to try FTC in my car and run a test at the same time.

I took the Mini to a performance centre that specialise in tuning and modifications on eye-wateringly expensive supercars. I asked them to measure the brake horse power (BHP) of the Mini on their state-of-the-art rolling road, where she gave a reading of 115.6bhp. Next, I popped the FTC pellets into the car when I was filling up, which was very easy. Almost immediately after adding the pellets the car became more responsive and over the following week she became progressively quieter, smoother and a good deal less ‘clunky’ when driving up hills. The Mini's fuel economy also improved over time from an average of 30mpg at the start of the test to 35mpg by the end, which was absolutely fantastic.

After two months and nearly 1,000 miles I took my car back to have it re-tested. To my delight she had gained 3.4bhp up from 115.6bhp to 119bhp, a power increase of 2.9%, since adding the little FTC pellets. The guys at the performance centre told me that removing carbon deposits from an engine is a sure-fire way of restoring lost power and fuel efficiency. They said that engines are stripped down and de-coked to get them working properly again. But I didn’t have to go to any of that bother. I just flushed the pellets into the tank, drove the car as normal and the FTCs did all the hard work! I was really chuffed. So, for around thirty quid the Mini accelerates, drives and has pretty much the same fuel economy it had when I bought it new in 2012! FTC has worked fantastically well and I’m utterly delighted with the excellent results I’ve had.
